Iran was trying to shut down the Straits of Hormuz. Oil markets were affected and a rise on oil and gas prices began. The Dow dropped into the red over 500 points at opening and remained there at close – the beginnings of collapse of the economy and beginning of replacement of the fiat US dollar for Zimbabwe as the new world reserve currency.
